Someone has been spamming my website with blogger accounts and my site is losing roughly 200 hits a day now.?

The website had a lot of top 10 google spots and someone just completely screwed it up for me. How can I gain back my credibility to my website. I am so angry right now because I am losing so much traffic now. Sorry. Most Helpful answer 10 points.

Use a service that blocks certain IP addresses from entering your website. You should be able to view a list of IP addresses that have view it.
Reply:I'm not exactly sure of what you mean by "spamming" your website. If by spamming you mean they are blasting your site with comments and/or posts with links to other sites (or other content) then see the following: (otherwise skip to after the bars)

That really depends on how your website is set up. If you are using a CMS or blogger software (like Wordpress or Blogger) then I believe there are settings you can change to prevent people from posting links (html anchors) in comments and/or posts.

If you wrote the code for your site yourself then you should be able to find a script (or write one yourself) to filter out specific html code when people try to post comments or posts. If a friend someone else wrote the code for you, talk to them about adding in a filter.

If by spamming you mean they are accessing (or pinging) your website from various other sites (probably using bots), then I'm not sure how that would hurt your rating on Google.

I know you can generate more traffic by having links to your site from other sites... blogs... forums... anywhere people can get to them... And from what I understand that helps your Google listings as well...
Reply:how do bloggers mess up a website's rankings or make you lose traffic?
