Now, look through your blogs template, you should see something that says:

This is where you put the html code for link you want to put on your site.

For Video:
You can use "Upload Video" icon when composing your posts. Or "embed" videos from other sites (like youtube).
For embedding, you just have to copy the code of the video (usually it's right beside it, under "embed"), and place it into your post. Simple as that.
For Music:
You have some Gadgets in Blogger you can add, or use some external scripts. Just search for "music in blogger"

The problem is this... Google itself doesn't have any images. Google is a SEARCH ENGINE that find OTHER PEOPLE'S IMAGES on a website. And any image on a website must be assumed as "copyrighted", as they are "published", unless declared otherwise.
If it's just for illustration purposes like for a blog, you can use Flickr's images. Flickr's TOS means all pictures hosted on it, unless marked otherwise, are available for "public use" provided you link back to the original AND Flickr main site itself in a caption.
When in doubt, don't use it.

Every time I download a template from a site that provides them for Blogger, it is a zip file. Then when I try to open the XML file it says "The XML page cannot be displayed

If you want to view the code.. just right click on it 禄 Open with 禄 Wordpad.
Now, you can make any changes if you want.

go to your blogger panel, and look for the text, it should say something like "Manage Entries", there you will be able to edit or delete entries.
I would recommend you to use some bloggin software, like Windows Live Writer for example, it helps a lot to be able to manage your blog post as if they were files on your pc.

I like Wordpress, but it has a VERY limited selection of themes. I'd do Blogger but creating your own pages is too tricky for me at the moment (not much of an HTML person). Does anyone know of a site or a good layout that has pages 'preinstalled" in the layout?

I don't think you generate much from adsense unless someone clicks on the ads that show up on your blog. Ideally, the ads are related to something on your blog so if people are reading you out of interest they would also be interested in clicking those ads... doesn't always happen though ...

I am using a standard blogspot.com template and need to put one of my 3 ads at the top of my page. Hopefully a horizontal banner. How can I do this?
