I have a website and am wanting to put a blog on it that is independent of other websites such as Blogger?

I have a website and am wanting to put a blog on it that is independent of other websites such as Blogger. I want to be able to update it and such through a program or something similar. I want to basically have control over it. MovableType is too expensive and I was wondering if anyone knew of something cheaper or a solution to my dilemna. Thank you very much.

Try WordPress.

Its got similar features to all the top blogging software, and its open source, which basically means you can download it and use it at no cost.

As well as alowing you to blog, it'll let you create static pages too, so you can effectively run your whole website with it.
