The problem is this... Google itself doesn't have any images. Google is a SEARCH ENGINE that find OTHER PEOPLE'S IMAGES on a website. And any image on a website must be assumed as "copyrighted", as they are "published", unless declared otherwise.





If it's just for illustration purposes like for a blog, you can use Flickr's images. Flickr's TOS means all pictures hosted on it, unless marked otherwise, are available for "public use" provided you link back to the original AND Flickr main site itself in a caption.





When in doubt, don't use it.





I recommend you download Zemanta blog plug-in, which automatically pulls down related available pictures for you from Wikipedia or Flickr, as well as suggest related tags. http://www.zemanta.com

but if you try the same thing, of copying the image directly from yahoo, its not possible.


so, surely a big company like google would put a restriction on copying their images, if they wanted to do so.

All images are copyrighted unless the author explicitly states that they submit the image to the public domain.
